Changing Policy

Practice and procedures in relation to Changing areas in school and in locations other than our school premises.

In accordance with Scoil Mocheallog’s Risk Assessment and in accordance with Procedures for Child Protection Procedures for Primary and Post Primary Schools 2017. Scoil  Mocheallóg recognises that the protection and welfare of children is of paramount importance. It is committed to ensuring that all children are kept safe at all times.

Accordingly in relation to many aspects of school life and activities it has adopted the following procedures and practices which have due regard to this responsibility.

1. The supervision of students in changing rooms requires special sensitivity.
2. Teachers are requested to check a changing area in another location where possible to ensure there are no other adult persons in it before students from Scoil Mocheallóg enter.
3. Only female staff may enter changing areas when in use by students.
4. In general staff will remain outside changing rooms whilst maintaining a supervisory presence.
5. Staff will only enter a changing room for emergency or disciplinary reasons. 
6. Team talks will be delivered by coach/teacher outside of changing area. 

Policy Ratification

This Policy was ratified by the Board of Management of Scoil Mocheallóg in April 2018.
