Transport of Pupils in Staff Cars

Practice and procedures in relation to transporting of pupils in Staff cars.

In accordance with Scoil Mocheallog’s Risk Assessment and in accordance with Procedures for Child Protection Procedures for Primary and Post Primary Schools 2017. Scoil  Mocheallóg  recognises that the protection and welfare of children is of paramount importance. It is committed to ensuring that all children are kept safe at all times.

Accordingly in relation to many aspects of school life and activities it has adopted the following procedures and practices which have due regard to this responsibility.

1. As a general rule students will not be transported in staff cars.
2. In particular circumstances when it is necessary to transport a student in a staff car, a student will never be alone with a teacher.
3. A teacher will always be accompanied by another staff member, SNA teacher, secretary.
4. One of the staff will always be female.
5. In the event of an adult being unavailable two other students will accompany the teacher in addition to the student necessitating transport.

This Policy was ratified by the Board of Management of Scoil Mocheallóg in April 2018.
